Marietta area for over 95 years. The YWCA has acted as a safe haven for
women suffering from domestic violence or sexual assault, and leads a
sexual assault nurse examiner program that extends across three counties in
the northwest Georgia area.
      General Responsibilities Include:
Performing and documenting sexual assault medical forensic interviews
effectively and in a timely manner
Effectively collecting forensic specimens and completing supportive
documentation
Carrying out detailed head-to-toe assessments to check for trauma
Performing detailed genital and anal examinations on male and female
patients
Photographing bodily and genital/anal injuries and providing accurate and
competent documentation

Manage patients with various antepartum conditions, such as pre-ecclampsia,
pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), multiple gestation, and premature
rupture of membranes (PROM)
Preparing patient for general, spinal, and epidural anesthesia and
management of patient during and after administration of anesthesia
Preparing patient for Cesarean section and dilation and curettage (D&C)
procedure
Placement of internal scalp electrode (ISE) during intrapartum period
Reading and deciphering fetal heart tracing during intrapartum period
Assessing level of cervical dilation by performing digital cervical exam
Providing emotional, mental, and physical support for mother and family
during intrapartum period and delivery, such as assisting with breathing
exercises, massage, and pain distraction
Manage patients with Morphine, Nubain, Stadol, and Fentanyl titrations to
maintain specific levels of sedation and pain relief per physician order
Assisting physician with patient care during vaginal and Cesarean
deliveries
Monitoring infant and mother during first few hours postpartum, assessing
mother's level of consciousness and bleeding, and assessing infant's
transition to extrauterine life
Providing pain relief and assessment after surgery in post-anesthesia care
unit (PACU)
Collection of photographs, memoirs, and keepsakes of miscarried or
stillborn infants for patient and family
