On a daily basis, I monitor and assess the performance of the
USAA headquarters and surrounding campus buildings (14
buildings, Child Development Center; over 5 million square feet)
operational assets and related systems: Electrical and Variable
Frequency Drives, (VFD). At the HQ USAA, I provide management
with the understanding of techniques, skills and abilities to
evaluate the performance and restoration operations of all my
areas of responsibility equipment.
My duties, responsibilities:
Member of the USAA Emergency Response Team; I am trained to be
an immediate first responder for any life-threatening personnel
issues, including: CPR, Fire Fighter II, confined space rescue,
evacuations and emergency first-aid.
Operate as a single point of contact to maintain the highest
standards of USAA, the National Electricians Code, NFPA 70E,
Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc.
(BOCA) to each systems performance for fully operational
capabilities for supporting the USAA facility.
Meet or exceed productivity goals and sustain a healthy work
environment.
Assist in providing continuous non-interrupted essential and
critical power electrical support to the USAA Data Center
Facility.
Collaborate, coordinate and discuss with management, external
customers and vendors for scheduled system maintenance shutdown,
restoration of facilities to minimize disruption of services
that may have the potential to impact USAA operations.
Accomplish up/downward reporting to ensure managers at all
levels and sections they have accurate and precise reports of
events impacting any USAA operations.
Evaluate USAA interrelated systems for optimum performance:
UPS, PCS, single and multi-phase, low, medium and high voltage
systems, switchgear and emergency generators.
Advise and train Apprentice Electricians, Electronic
Technicians, contractors and co-workers on electrical/VDF issues
as our discipline relates to and affects all USAA operations on
campus buildings; over 5 million square feet of operations and
administrative and maintenance space.
Accept daily pass downs and briefings for planning, assessing
and prioritizing upcoming issues or problems that may cause
undue outages.
Track time and material resources and expenditures for
electrical projects.
Continually acquiring and applying advanced knowledge of local
and industrial policies, processes and practices.
Use written and oral interpersonal skills; effective
communications to guide, teach and instruct co-workers to
provide training on task accomplishments and assignments for
minimum impact to USAA services.
Work independently and without supervision, to accomplish all
tasks of corrective and preventive maintenance, prioritize,
troubleshoot complex USAA systems for minimum downtime and
optimum performance with self-training and no supervision to
prevent disruptions and restoral delays: Rely on Risk
Management Assessment to determine and prevent USAA system
outages due to unexpected chain of events.
I evaluate daily, the overall performance of the interrelated
electric and electronic systems and subsystems of the buildings
of the USAA prevent causes of system degradation. My duties and

Keeping architectural and historical systems configuration
prints for review, maintenance, and reference, (schematic,
original blueprints...)
Use National Fire Protection Association, (NFPA) regulations
to ensure the safety of the personnel and property of.
