5. 1994: Established the first HIV treatment center in Southeast of Nigeria, the clinic was
sited at Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba, Abia State, Nigeria and was
accredited in 1994 by the Medical Council of Nigeria and the University Commission of
Nigeria. Dr. Ibekwe ran the HIV clinic from April 1994 to December 2002.
