The Product Specialist is required to support the Commercial Team within the Computing Business Unit to deliver to our sales colleagues a consistent, relevant and engaging proposition from our Vendor partner Microsoft, to drive sales activation and engagement with proactivity and to support and drive awareness of the vendor proposition and portfolio.


Work with Marketing, Purchasing, Sales Teams and your Commercial colleagues to maximise the potential from Microsoft across their B2B portfolio. Work closely with the Business Manager and have direct ownership for certain tasks to maximise the sales volumes and profit and minimise any risks within your vendor for Exertis and our stakeholders. Continually strive to help our vendor partners and customers achieve their goals whilst maximising the opportunity for Exertis in sales volume and profit.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility for revenue, margin and gross profit for the brand
Maintain product and technology-specific knowledge sufficient to act as initial point of contact and qualification for sales functions
Maintain key vendor information for sales function, including product set ups, price lists, deal registration process, promotional updates, new product launches and products going EOL
Ensure key information flow from vendor through to Sales function including ETAs, lead times, product shortages and deal registration status
Create, launch and track targeted sales incentives to drive brand awareness, focus and increase sell out
Understand basic competitive positioning of aligned products and vendor in context of key market, product or technology competition
Understand DaaS proposition and how to include MS suite of products in a DaaS sale
Identify areas for development within the Sales teams to improve product knowledge or sales ability and coordinate ongoing vendor training to meet the needs of the Sales teams and new starters
Own and drive Expert Zone Accreditation
Work closely with MS evangelists to arrange training and utilise all available resource
Own the pipeline and deal tracker for the vendor
Work with the Business Manager and vendor on monthly/quarterly proactive campaigns to drive incremental business opportunities such as -
Lapsed accounts
Account acquisition
Attach - OEM & ProWins / Office / PCA
New products
Frequency & Yield - (Number & Value of transactions)
Produce a monthly/quarterly business review pack to be presented to Business Manager and vendor, this is to include a summary of campaigns completed
Planned regular engagement with vendor sales and category contactsEssential Requirements
