Job Summary The Teacher Asst helps create a caring, safe environment for the children and assists inactivities to deliver quality educational care. Contributes to a well-run, organized,responsive environment. Works with Teacher by contributing to planning andimplementation of activities and lessons. Follows direction of Teacher to sustainday-to-day responsibilities including facilitating learning experiences, room arrangement,personal care routines, health and safety practices, and supervision of children. CompletesDaily Sheets, Illness/Injury Reports and records observation notes of childrens skills andabilities. Completes periodic assessments/screenings, provides input for preparation ofchildrens progress reports. Must communicate effectively, actively listen, and work wellwith others in team environment. Maintains positive relationship withchildren/staff/families. Serves as positive role-model and upholds program-wide valuesand other center quality initiatives through professional conduct. Required within 90 daysof hire: Completion of Get Started with Center-based Care: Building Blocks for Quality,Pediatric First Aid CPR and Mandated Reporter Training. Mandated Reporter Training to bemaintained every 5 years. Training and In-Service - Teacher Asst Attends workshops, and in-service training as recommended by manager orprofessional development plan. Meets minimum of 6 DPW/PQAS training hours per year( based on anniversary of dateof hire Maintains online Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) on Participates in training/educational opportunities to develop knowledge and ability inthe following areas: Child Growth & Development; Environment, Curriculum, &Content; Families in Society; Diversity; Child Assessment; Communication;Professionalism & Leadership; Health, Safety, & Nutrition. Completes/Maintains Mandated Reporter training in accordance to PA law. Domains of Learning - Teacher Asst Contributes to the planning and implementation of activities and lessons for assignedgroup. Records observation notes of the children's skills and abilities. Completes periodicassessments and screenings and provides input for the preparation of the children'sprogress reports. Initiates and facilitates children's play by being present and participating in their play. Assists in achieving a balance between child-initiated and teacher-directed activities. Involves children in experiences that promote language and literacy development. Communicates with children at their developmental level. Encourages children to be independent in self-help skills to promote positiveself-esteem. Helps children explore with sensory/ hands-on learning activities. Facilitates Developmentally Appropriate Practice. Uses positive guidance techniques. National/State Level Requirements - Teacher Asst Follows DPW regulations and is familiar with Pa Early Learning Standards, NAEYC andERS guidelines.
