JOB DESCRIPTION:

DuPont is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for our Healthcare and Specialty Lubricants (HSL) operations at the Cooper River North plant in South Carolina. This position reports to the HSL Manufacturing Technology Manager and receives local oversight, training, and guidance from Cooper River Site Leadership. This position will provide electrical engineering support to the HSL businesses to drive continuous improvement within the manufacturing process, power distribution system and electrical safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be the site electrical power distribution subject matter expert to understand and evaluate continuity risks to businesses and effectively communicate with site and area leadership teams that are impacted.

Owns the site electrical infrastructure including completing required Hazard and Infrastructure audits.

Interface with area engineers to provide power distribution engineering support for all aspects of manufacturing. This includes coordinating medium voltage and low voltage PMs that support the businesses. Voltage levels at the site include 13.8kv, 4160v and 480v systems.

Participates in the Site and Corporate Electrical Safety Teams with the efforts to establish electrical safety culture in the organization and the continuous improvement of electrical standards for the site.

Interface with site contract support and the local utility company on issues related to purchased power.

Troubleshoot instrumentation and controls issues with the operations and electrical team as required.

Lead efforts to upgrade electrical infrastructure ranging in scope from incremental change outs to major technology changes.

Provide electrical design support on site capital improvement projects. This will include scope and review of site projects and ensure these installations meet local and national electrical standards.

Work with DuPont corporate subject matter experts to meet DuPont standards. Develop appropriate documentation and be the owner’s representative for turnover to operations during commissioning.

Provide commissioning and startup support for new equipment installation.

Support the operation and reliability of the local powerhouse with experience working with chillers, instrument air dryers, cooling towers, air compressors and water treatment systems.

Provide subject matter expertise and guidance for reliability program for electrical equipment, including specific work and preventative maintenance procedures; prepare electrical lockout plans for Operations when required; support area commissioning and safety reviews.

Implement and maintain coordination settings for 480V substations through to the load.

Finalize arc flash settings for site, maintain existing arc flash information using SKM software.

Lead or facilitate root cause failure analysis efforts related to unplanned events.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of plant manufacturing experience; higher experience levels encouraged to apply; job level and compensation offered to be commensurate with experience.
Demonstrated ability to perform electrical work safely and effectively in an industrial environment.
Working knowledge of E&I drawings including electrical schematics, logic diagrams and P&I diagrams
Skilled in creating, reviewing, and updating technical procedures
Ability to use drawings, diagnostic data, and field observations to troubleshoot electrical issues
Ability to size electrical installations and specify equipment when necessary for site upgrades and changes.
Experience abiding to NEC and NFPA 70 codes and safety standards.
Ability to work with others and communicate well in a cross-functional setting including operators, mechanics, engineers of various disciplines, management, other leaders, and consultants in a positive way to improve plant performance.
Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of Safety and process interlocks, PFD calculations,
Understanding of electrical standards and Process Safety Management (PSM) process and value for safety rules and procedures.
Proven skills with management of change work practices in a manufacturing setting
Support substation diagnostics
Working knowledge of electrical systems with a high resistance ground system.
Experience with operating and maintaining:
Square D medium voltage switchgear
Eaton medium MCC equipment
Eaton low voltage switchgear
Allen Bradley low voltage MCC equipment
GE 750 relay, SEL 751 relays and SEL RTAC communication equipment
Large liquid filled transformers
Experience with Apollo RCI methodology or equivalent Root Cause Analysis tool(s)
