Jacobs Space Exploration Group (JSEG) is comprised of 10 companies and is located at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL (ranked #11 in Best Places to Live by U.S. News). Position Description:
The Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) Manufacturing and Production Operations Engineer will support the SLS Block 1B/EUS Development Program Office (B1BDO) at the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans, Louisiana by providing budgetary, technical, and project management support to MAF facilities as the B1BDO Manager’s delegate.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the MAF on-site representative for the B1BDO for EUS production operations
• Serve as a senior leader to facilitate coordination meetings between the EUS prime contractor, MAF facilities, and MSFC support
• Support EUS prime contractor tooling reviews
• Support EUS prime contractor production readiness reviews
• Report MAF status and issues to MSFC EUS management team
• Provide MAF facility subject matter expertise in the coordination of EUS prime contractor facility modifications and repairs and EUS storage/tooling recommendations.
• Help coordinate EUS Material Review Board (MRB) items

Qualifications:
A degree in Engineering or related field is required. A degree from an ABET-accredited university preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with minimum of 9 years of experience, a MS with at least 13 years of experience, or BS with at least 15 years of experience.
The following skills/experience are required:
• Expert knowledge of production operations management including integration with the Resident Manager Office
• Expert knowledge of facilities operation and coordination between end users
• Expertise and history with large aerospace tooling installation, start up and operations
• In depth knowledge of materials sciences and MRB processes in support of a major program
• Programmatic expertise for advisement in welding of large aerospace vehicle components and repair techniques
• Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, customer relation skills, and presentation skills
• Self-motivated, effective team players, familiar with working in a dynamic work environment
• Demonstrated experience in driving lean processes and procedures in hardware/systems development
The following skills/experience are highly desired:
• Experience in design, development, test, and evaluation of Space Systems.
• An understanding and knowledge of the current SLS program and a working understanding of the SLS vehicle and interfaces.
