The chemical Company has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Senior Product Quality Engineer (PQE) job in Electronic Materials / Chemical Mechanical Planarization Technology (CMPT), located in Newark, DE. This Product Engineering position is a key driver in the continued implementation of “Partner of Choice” vision for the site. This role will have responsibility for the quality and improvement of the slurry product line manufactured globally. In this strategic and high visibility role, you will interface with functional and business leaders across the CMPT organization to help set and execute the improvement strategies necessary for the next phase of business success.

This role works with cross functional teams to support new product introductions, identify improvement opportunities and be the focal point for change management for the assigned products. This role will provide targeted opportunities for customer interactions while leveraging strong engineering principles to work on complex projects. This role also provides an excellent development opportunity for individuals interested in future leadership positions in customer facing roles OR in engineering.

NOTE: Hybrid schedule expected to be 80/20 in the long term with flexibility in scheduling required. Less than 5% travel for this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

Act as the technical product manager for the assigned product portfolio. This role would be the technical counterpart to the business managers in effective product portfolio management.

Analyze process and production data to identify product consistency improvement opportunities. Initiate the improvement opportunities / drive for prioritization of the improvement opportunities with manufacturing and strategic partners.

Be the steward for change management for the assigned product portfolio. Work with change owners (manufacturing, supplier quality, strategic partners, etc) to assess the impact of proposed changes and drive towards risk mitigation. Work with customer facing teams to communicate appropriately through technical whitepapers.

Work with the PCS (process control systems) program manager to drive SPC (Statistical process control) culture at the site.

Assess non-conforming products. Work with various teams (manufacturing, applications engineering) to decide fit for use for the non-conforming material.

Enable new product introductions with the highest technical quality by partnering with product development group on the stage gate methodology.

Understand customer requirements and work to drive improvements (new metrologies, process improvements, etc.) in the assigned product portfolio at manufacturing facilities.

Acting as steward for DuPont’s product information.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or similar chemical/chemistry field.

5-10 years of experience as an engineer in an engineer in manufacturing or manufacturing support functions. NOTE: This is not an entry-level role. Early career or upcoming graduates will not be considered for this job opening.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and cross-functional team environment. Ability to make good engineering judgments independently.

Hands-on experience with statistical process control methods.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to deliver technical presentations, communicate results and progress update to technical and commercial teams, management, and business leadership.

Preferred Requirements:

Strong data analysis skills (regression analysis, design of experiments, etc). 6-sigma green belt or black belt certification.

Experience in external (customer or supplier) communication: ensuring both companies are aligned on the same goals and understandings.

Experience in the semiconductor industry (CMP, Lithography, Etch, Strip, etc).

Experience with silica chemistry or CMP slurry distribution systems.

Pay range $105k to $110k for up to 6 years, can go up to $125k for 7-10 years, no exceptions. Please only send candidates within these ranges based on level of experience.
Position located in Newark, DE – offer comes with relocation assistance; prefer locals, role is Hybrid role – 80 onsite and 20 remote. 5% or less travel.
