This Per Diem-Access Service Representative position is per diem/on call. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime and weekends. Our office is located at 300 Community Drive, Manhasset, NY.

We offer 4 to 5 weeks of paid training. The hours during training will be 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday.

Primary Responsibilities:

You will be asked to perform this role onsite, in an office setting or other company location.

Processes release of information request for patient medical records in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing quality customer service

Receives and interprets request by telephone, fax, mail delivery for patient medical information from patients, clinical providers, attorneys, law enforcement, third-party payers, internal departments etc.

Answers request and tracking information into the department computer systems to log monitor and complete request for information

Ensures appropriate authorization is obtained for release of medical records

Extracts medical records to ensure only pertinent information requested is released

Reproduces protected health information using a variety of technologies including photocopiers, scanners etc.

Provides routine customer service to request is regarding the release of information appropriate authorization payment status etc.

Gathers and provides medical record information in support of various internal and external audit activities

Informs supervisor of any issues in retrieving medical records and/or release of information

Participates in department in service educational activities to remain current of HIPAA and State Regulations related to release of personal health information (PHI)

Retrieval, Reconciliation and Assembly rate of medical records - Ensure medical records are accurately assembled. Ensure patient identifiers are on every page (front and back of page)

Performs related duties as required

Moderate work experience within own function - Facilitates the review of medical records for deficiencies and proper assembly

Reviews and updates medical records with coding deficiencies

Collaborates with appropriate clinical departments to resolve various record deficiencies and close files according to regulatory guidelines

Coverage of shift change due to staffing and departmental coverage

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma / GED (or higher)

1+ years of in - person customer service experience - experience including, but not limited to: hospital, physician's office, medical clinic, hospitality, banking, retail, etc.

Familiarity with computer and Windows PC applications, which includes the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications

Available to work on call, as needed, with the flexibility to adjust daily schedule including weekends and holidays

Ability to work a training shift of Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM, for 4 - 5 weeks until training is complete

Preferred Qualifications:

Any previous hospital or physician's office patient registration experience

Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification

Bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish
