JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Machinist will report to the Machine Shop Manager.
The Machinist is expected to operate a variety of machines designed to perform assigned tasks.
The Machinist will produce precision parts using both manual and CNC equipment in accordance with accurate engineering drawings and measurements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as manual and CNC lathes and milling machines.
Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machine work.
Review drawings or instructions to understand specifications, planning the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
Consult with engineering, quality control, manufacturing personnel, and project managers to exchange technical information.
Evaluate procedures and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with the Helfrich Brothers safety department.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Perform routine machine maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship.
Proven experience as a machine operator.
Knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
