Position Summary

Reporting to the Service Manager the Automotive Service Technician is responsible for the diagnostics and repair of customer Vehicles. The Technician is also responsible for preparing detailed vehicle service reports, replacing vehicle wiper blades and car batteries, and changing motor oil as well as transmission and brake fluid as needed.

Responsibilities

o Obtain repair orders from the Control Tower Operator and take them to the stall area.
o Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs, as indicated on the work order, with accuracy and efficiency in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards.
o Inspect and diagnose the source of any malfunction and perform the repair.
o Communicate with the Parts Department to obtain needed parts.
o Save and tag parts requested by customers or under warranty.
o Examine the vehicle to determine the need for additional safety or service work.
o Notify Service Advisor immediately if further work is necessary, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the allotted timeframe.
o Document work performed.
o Align wheels and bleed the hydraulic brake system.
o Maintain a neat and orderly shop area and personal stall and bay area including your personal tool bench.
o Account for all dealership-owned tools.
o Follow all company and manufacturer policies, directives and procedures.
o Comply with required health & safety regulations.
o Perform any other duties as required

Requirements

o Has the ability to move and lift heavy objects occasionally.
o Always take undo care and concern in operating dealership and customer vehicles.
o High School Diploma.
o Industry courses are considered an asset.
o Solid understanding of the automotive industry
o A minimum of 3 years of experience as an automotive Service Technician

Work Conditions

o Regularly spend long hours standing
o Regularly spend long hours in and out of a Shop environment
o Frequently work on projects that require deadlines
o Regularly lift 5-15 pounds
o Routinely work with a loud noise.
o Occasionally work outside of regular work hours.
o Work environment necessitates proper personal protective equipment in keeping with health & safety requirements.

Compensation
