The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for the operation and development of the HR/Personnel function providing pro-active, efficient, and effective functional advice and support to the VP of Finance and Operations, the President, and Principal of Notre Dame High School. The Human Resource Manager will maintain and enhance the organization's Human Resources by updating and implementing policies and programs. The HR Manager will sit on the Board of Governors Diversity Committee for Notre Dame High School and the President's Administrative team. This position reports to VP of Finance and Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation and maintenance of faculty compensation spreadsheets used for annual Offers of Employment and Extracurricular Activities Compensation Addendum in close consultation with the Principal.
  • Creation and maintenance of Summer Camp Contracts in consultation with the Principal.
  • Oversee benefits program, provide updates to benefits and oversee Open Enrollment process.
  • In close consultation with the President, Vice President of Finance, the Notre Dame Board of Governors, develop, maintain, and update a Notre Dame Human Resource Policy Manual, a Notre Dame Employee Handbook, and a Notre Dame Employee Benefits Program Handbook.
  • Keep up to date with Notre Dame High School / State teaching requirements, employment legislation and best practices advising the Principal, President and VP of Finance and Operations.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resources federal and state requirements.
  • Facilitates Human Resource operational requirements such as harassment training, diversity training, OSHA training, and all compliance training for all ND employees by scheduling and assigning employees participation in mandatory workshops or online courses.
  • Maintain all employee records in the school human resource database.
  • Maintain and update job requirements and job descriptions for all positions and post when necessary in consultation with the President and Principal
  • In conjunction with the President and VP of Finance, develop and administer the process for the appraisal of all non-teaching staff.
  • Work with the President, VP of Finance and Principal to establish guidelines for recruiting and interviewing in accordance with the mission and objectives of Notre Dame High School.
  • In conjunction with school administration, prepare employees for assignments by participating in employee orientation /on boarding programs.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in employee benefits matters as requested.
  • Learn to be a backup for payroll and support of payroll functions

Reports to: VP of Finance & Operations

Key Skills/Attributes:

  • Able to meet deadlines, managing and prioritizing time effectively
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work independently and use own initiative to overcome obstacles
  • In depth Human Resource knowledge
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and familiarity with payroll software and payroll processing as well as human resources software packages
  • Knowledge and experience of Safe Recruitment policies
  • High level of oral and written communications skills
  • Proven organization skills, enthusiasm, and achievements
  • Able to work as part of a team and contribute towards its success
  • Diplomatic skills and confidentiality
  • Must have the ability to work in a dynamic, highly sensitive environment, and have demonstrated experience in planning and organizing the effectiveness of human resource programs.
  • Must become knowledgeable of school benefit packages to include Medical, Dental Pension and retirement programs.
  • Other assignments as delegated by the VP of Finance and Operations

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field
  • A minimum of five years' experience of increasing responsibility in a managerial role in Human Resource Functions
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting benefits and human resources, preferably in the education sector. Knowledge of the State of NJ regulations strongly preferred.

Classification: Exempt / 12 months, full-time
