ABOUT YOU & YOUR NEW ROLE

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an extraordinary New Product Development Engineer, to join our Chandon team!

You will: Be responsible for the development of packaging, new products and supplier qualification. She/he ensures that projects are correctly documented and delivered on-time, in a cost-effective way to meet company quality standards.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

NPD Projects + Innovation

  • Develop new packaging and work closely with Marketing, Designers, Finance, Operations (Production/Planning/Maintenance/Quality) and Winemaking to deliver projects on-time and within budget.
  • Lead new projects and assign tasks during project meetings, write minutes, and follow-up action plans and timelines.
  • Define and edit technical specifications of new dry good.
  • Gather information and assist in preparing tender to offer, following Purchasing Manager instructions
  • Assist Quality in the completion of the Finished Product Sheet (BOM structure)
  • Responsible for providing accurate packaging and costing information to Data Management to update SAP
  • Work with Production, Maintenance and Quality to ensure all dry goods have a high level of quality performance on the line, and are fit for purpose through appropriate trials
  • Work with the vendors to ensure high quality and timeliness of delivery of dry goods.
  • Set-up and continually update as necessary, procedures related to new developments including testing protocols for materials (quantities and test requirements by material, timelines, and communication regarding trials and outcomes of testing) with agreed upon input from internal stakeholders.
  • Develop export labels following market requirements with Export Manager and Designer and follow-up export orders
  • Understand development costs (one-time costs and CAPEX investments) and liaise with Purchasing Manager on this topic.
  • Ensure that all new projects follow the development procedure flow chart.
  • Ensure supplier has received necessary material specs for all new items prior to placing purchase order.
  • Manage the third-party relationships and communication for labeling/bottling, planning and dry goods procurement.

Continuous Improvement

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement towards packaging optimization and cost savings.
  • Create and maintain SOPs and training materials for Quality & Purchasing regarding new product development
  • Participate in the Operations team efforts to improve Dry Goods and Finished products quality, as well as working with the internal stakeholders and suppliers to drive dry goods/production line efficiency.
  • Maintain a close and open communication with the Brand/Marketing team and design agencies to ensure a perfect understanding of the technical constraint and opportunities in order to improve and optimize the future design of the products.

Requirements

Education : Bachelor to Master degree: Engineer or Technical diploma; Bachelors in a Packaging related program preferred

Languages : Fluent in English required

Professional experience & know how :

  • 1-2 years of experience as Packaging Developer in food, beverage or cosmetic industry preferred.
  • Exposure to or experience in Packaging or packaging equipment design, control or validation of packaging components is a plus
  • Good knowledge of environmental best practices and Californian regulation
  • Good knowledge of company best practices is appreciated.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and work with multifunctional teams and external contacts
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a harmonious manner with ALL business and management.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills within product development
  • Very good computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, internet, SAP).
  • Team player and Good communicator (written and oral)
  • Passionate about Luxury products and markets
  • Business acumen, diplomacy, integrity.
