Electrical Design Engineer-Optics
Electrical Design Engineer-Optics 12+ month contract Pay rate $50/hr (negotiable)
About the Role: This role is responsible for designing and building of Electrical components/LRUs/ subsystems for our platform of military vehicles. Hybrid/Onsite: Due to the nature of the work, this role may require on-site presence up to 100%.
Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role:
Support concept to production including architecture analysis, trade studies, requirements analysis, engineering reviews, design, test, and qualification. Independently developing approaches to solutions that are consistent with Organizational objectives Component selection, procurement, and oversight of electrical hardware build. Create specifications and test plans. Review hardware and software requirement documents and test plans. Design, develop, and test electrical components and subsystems in support of integration of thermal imaging sensors, color and monochrome high-resolution cameras, lasers, radar, direct view optics, and stabilized control systems. Support the integration & testing of sights and electro-optical sensors on the various vehicle platforms. Work with other members of the engineering staff to ensure the product meets its requirements. Prepare and present written reports, status reports, and presentations as necessary. Provide technical support and communication to the program office customers, and other departments.
Qualifications Sought:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience. Fewer years will be considered with an advanced degree. Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools. Ability to travel to supplier and government sites Experience with Digital and Analog circuit design Familiarity with Gyroscopes, Encoders, and Cameras Development of component/subsystem requirements Experience with Model-based Motion Control Experience with Model-based Motion Control Loops Experience with PWM and PID Experience with Test Equipment (Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, DACs) Experience with Power, thermal analysis, timing, biasing, voltage and current control, LED control, data packet deciphering, etc. Experience with Schematic development, component selection, circuit simulation, and PCB layout Engineering design, development, and analysis software Desired: MATLAB, MATHCAD, Mentor Graphics Schematic Capture, CAMView or CAM350 Microprocessor based products including processors, chipsets, memory and bus interfaces, networking standards (PCI-xpress, DDR2, DDR3, USB, SATA, DVI, etc...) Familiarity with Microcontrollers including IDEs, configuration, coding, and programming. Desired: NXP family of microcontrollers Industry interface standards and form factors (VITA42/46, COM Express, ETX, etc (link removed))- Familiarity with Serial Interconnects, USB, CAN, RS422/485, etc.) Experience with Graphics/video interfaces (SDI, DVI, HDMI, RS-170, etc.) Familiarity with EMI/EMC design practices and standards. Familiarity with C, C#, Visual Studio Suite Experience with Optical hardware and testing
