Below are the primary qualifications for this role: Experience editing data in a Geometric Network using ArcMap Experience reading utility construction documents (design drawings, redlines, as builts, etc Experience using ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro Familiarity with editing in ArcGIS Pro Familiarity with editing data in an ArcGIS Utility Network would be a bonus JOB SUMMARYThe Geographic Information Systems Technician is responsible for providing a high level of technicalsupport for the data conversion and/or creation of spatial data in support of Geographic InformationSystems (GIS Prepares GIS mapping projects to illustrate water utility projects, qualify findings, andanalyze for cause and effect. This position manipulates a variety of related data to produce digital andhardcopy GIS products. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAll Specialties: Performs data entry of textual and geographic information into a Geographic Information Systemsmiddot; Performs data input using coordinate geometry, digitizing, file conversions, geoprocessing andgeoreferencingmiddot; Performs quality control checks to ensure data is accurate and adheres to data standards andproceduresmiddot; Reads, reviews, and interprets utility related documents (e.g., block maps, as-built drawings, etc Researches, interprets, and analyzes data and records for projectsmiddot; Performs data management, including the organization and maintenance of GIS data, record documents, and other electronic files and data typesmiddot; Develops and utilizes Geodatabase (GDB) information for GIS related projectsmiddot; Applies knowledge of civil engineering design, municipal infrastructure, utility systems, map projections, and an understanding of coordinate systemsmiddot; Performs data validation and verification efforts, including in-office review of record drawings and field visits to verify location and characteristics of assetsmiddot; Produces maps and other GIS products using GIS softwaremiddot; Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor39;s Degree in Computer Science, Geography, GIS, Management Information Systems orrelated field from an institution accredited by a recognized accrediting agencymiddot; Valid Class "C Texas Driver39;s Licensemiddot; Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.OR Two years of college with coursework in Engineering, Geography, or a related field from an institution accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Three years39; experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), computer aided drafting anddesign software, cartography, and technical drafting applicationsmiddot; Valid Class "C Texas Driver39;s Licensemiddot; Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designatedwork schedules. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of civil engineering design of municipal infrastructuremiddot; Knowledge of symbols and terminology in civil engineering drawingsmiddot; AutoCAD or Microstation experience ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro experience Cartography Familiarity with editing data in a Geometric Network using ArcMap Familiarity with editing in ArcGIS Pro
