City of Lawrence Police Department

The City of Lawrence Police Department is now accepting interest forms for the position of Merit Police Officer. To participate in the 2022 hiring process you must submit your interest form no later than March 25th, 2022.

Initial Requirements:
• Shall be a U. S. Citizen
• Shall possess a valid driver’s license
• Shall be at least twenty-one (21) years of age by date of application and have not reached forty (40) years of age by date of appointment. The maximum age limit is forty (40) years and six (6) months if you are a veteran with 20 years of service.
o A veteran is an individual who has or is serving in the armed forces; received or is eligible to receive an honorable discharge.
o The age requirement does not apply to a person who has been previously employed as a member of the Department.
• Shall have no felony convictions
• Shall be a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate.
