Hiring Ad for Human Resources Manager
Oceans Fresh Food Market is a leading supermarket chain specializing in a multi-ethnic fresh food shopping experience and a destination for prepared meals. Oceans Fresh Food Market operates in Brampton and Mississauga and is widely known and respected for its high-quality ethnic products and competitive prices.
Oceans Fresh Food Market's business partners, suppliers, distributors, transportation companies, third-party logistics providers, customs brokers and agents are primarily from China and other Asian countries.
We are currently hiring for a Human Resources Manager. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who excels in human resource management, talent acquisition, employee relations, and fostering a positive organizational culture to drive Oceans Fresh Food Market's operational success while being sensitive to the cultural nuances of our workforce.

Salary: $57 - $60 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours per week), Permanent
Vacations: 10 days (2 weeks) of paid vacation per calendar year
DUTIES
• Manage Oceans Fresh Food Market's human resources and cultivate a positive, inclusive, and co-operative corporate culture;
• Oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, career advancement, and offboarding;
• Implement successful recruitment strategies to attract top talent through a wide variety of hiring channels, such as job boards, career fairs, university and college recruitment, social media, employee referrals, third-party agencies, etc.;
• Participate in salary negotiations and ensure candidates are offered compelling compensation packages that are in line with market rates and internal budgets;
• Analyze staffing needs throughout the year and ensure adequate staffing during seasonal shopping peaks;
• Devise annual human resources budgets and allocate funds to each department according to the company's needs;
• Collaborate closely with departmental heads and managers to develop and implement management strategies that provide staff members with clear and achievable performance goals to drive both individual and team success;
• Formalize pay scales, career advancement roadmaps, and job descriptions for each position;
• Refine and update human resources policies and procedures as needed, including for company rules and regulations, disciplinary action processes, performance reviews, and grievance procedures;
• Address employee inquiries, concerns, and grievances promptly and empathetically, ensuring effective resolution;
• Direct payroll operations and ensure timely and accurate wage disbursements and remittances;
• Spearhead employee and staff training sessions, team-building activities, and engagement events to foster a positive workplace culture and enhance team cohesion;
• Manage the human resources department and provide guidance, coaching, goals, and KPIs;
• Continuously refine and improve human resources processes and practices to support organizational growth.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor's degree or higher;
2. Over 5 years of experience in human resources roles, including a minimum of 3 years of experience in human resources management for complex mid-sized corporations of over 100 employees;
3. Proven capacity to effectively address the intricate human resources requirements within a diverse workforce;
4. Proven track record in devising recruitment and retention strategies;
5. Capable of overseeing the entire employee journey, from recruitment and onboarding to training, professional development, and ultimately offboarding, ensuring a seamless and positive experience throughout the employee's tenure with the organization;
6. Capable of overseeing the annual salary review process and managing annual human resources budgets of over $2,000,000, ensuring efficient fund allocation to optimize staff performance and company returns;
7. Chinese language skills are an asset (but not a requirement) for communicating effectively to Chinese-speaking employees;
8. Capable of identifying staffing requirements across various departments, encompassing purchasing, warehousing, marketing, logistics, and store operations;
9. Possesses a collaborative mindset, skilled in working closely with departmental heads and managers to efficiently meet their specific human resources needs;
10. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRM systems (SAP HCM).
