Marsh is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Sydney CBD office.
Claims Consultant
What can you expect?
An opportunity has arisen for a Claims Consultant to join our NSWPublic Sector claims team , based in Sydney. This role is integral to the delivery of claims management services to Statewide Mutual Scheme Members. You will handle a portfolio of general insurance claims for Local Government clients, with a focus on liability claims.
More specifically, you will be responsible for: End to end management, as the decision maker, of a mixed portfolio of primarily Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, Property, Councilors and Officers claims Accurate reserving, claims investigation, managing claims costs, negotiating with a variety of third parties Building and maintaining rapport with clients on both claims and in educational presentations (forums and seminars) Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as brokers, underwriters, and reinsurers

We will count on you to:
Client Service
Meets service levels set out in Client Service Level Agreements. Responds to queries from clients, service providers and reinsurers. Prepares routine and ad hoc reports including quarterly and/or annual claims reviews; attends client meetings.
Claims Administration
Data entry of incident reports and processing of other claims related information in claims management system; Prepares and sends routine correspondence and other documents using Company templates.
Claims Advisory
Drives the settlement negotiation process and negotiates on behalf of client; Protects the interest of the council client and Statewide Mutual in determining commercial/technical resolutions to claims issues.
What you need to have:
Excellent client communication and influencing skills. Must have experience in Public Liability and Casualty claims.
Ability to prioritize and organize. A strong customer service approach and ability to develop and manage positive client business relationships. The ability to remain calm under pressure and be able to work flexibly when required. Dynamic with previous client facing experience.
What makes you stand out?
Extensive knowledge and 3-5 years experience in Public Liability and Casualty claims. Tertiary qualifications in Law or Business/Commerce will be well regarded. Knowledge of theCivil Liability Actand common law principles will be well regarded. Previous experience working with Local Government will be well regarded.
