HCA Solutions is currently seeking qualified candidates to serve as Dental Assistants for Health Service Department at the FCC Hazelton to include the United States Penitentiary (USP), the Federal Correctional Institute (FCI), the Secure Female Facility (SFF), and the Satellite Prison Camp (SPC), Sky View Drive, Bruceton Mills, WV.

This is a W-2, full-time position for long-term placement.

The weekly schedule will normally consist of 7.5-10 hours per day, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), Sessions shall be scheduled between the hours of 0600-1800 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

JOB DUTIES:

Engaging in full service dental assisting for all areas of dental clinical practice, including specialty areas such as restorative, oral surgery, periodontics, and prosthetics.

Preparing treatment area, dental instruments, materials, and medications for procedures.

Passing instruments safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Keeping the operative field clear of debris, including the use of irrigation and aspiration, and retracting oral tissues effectively and comfortably.

Preparing dental medicaments and impression materials per manufacturer's instructions.

Placing and finishing dental restorations, including bases and liners.

Making primary impressions and pouring of casts.

Choosing tooth shade selections for composite restorations and dentures.

Accomplishing all intra-operative procedures within standard infection control protocols.

Taking radiographs of patients using standard dental radiographic equipment, including but not limited to bitewing, periapical, occlusal, panoramic, and cephalometric radiographs.

Correctly positioning patients for radiographs and determining the level of radiation intensity to minimize radiation exposure.

Properly processing and documenting radiologic results into the patient electronic medical record.

Assisting in patient dismissal from the clinic upon completion of treatment as well as ensuring follow up care instructions are understood.

Maintaining dental equipment through normal procedures including cleaning and sterilizing as well as sharpening and other minor repairs. Any defective equipment should be properly reported for corrective action to be taken.

Repairing dental prostheses and appliances under supervision and the use of acrylic resins and porcelain as basic materials.

Properly storing and maintaining adequate levels of supplies in assigned rooms and operatories. If, at any time, the incumbent notices any supplies running low in the supply room, he/she immediately notifies the person responsible so that supplies can be reordered.

Ensuring instruments and unapproved items are not left in the clinic during non-patient care hours and that proper storage and security procedures are adhered to, as instructed.

Completing documentation in electronic medical records as well as assisting in audits and reviews of records.

Performing and interpreting quality assurance testing on radiographic techniques on a scheduled basis.

Properly containing and disposing of hazardous biological waste following all applicable laws, policies, and local procedures.

Completing a wide array of clerical and support duties including utilization of institutional-specific computer programs such as SENTRY.

Providing services may require a significant amount of physical exertion, including but not limited to, walking, bending, and periods of standing lasting for two to three hours at a time.

Individuals providing dental assistant services under the contract award must meet one of the following requirements:

1. Experience: Six months experience that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work, or provides familiarity with the work, described within this document; or

2. Education: Successful completion of a 1-year dental assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA); or

3. Experience/Education Combination: Equivalent combinations of experience and education are qualifying.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The Dental Assistant shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
The Contractor shall provide a resume and requested documentation along with copy of all diplomas and/or certificates to support stated qualification.
Experience working in a correctional setting (preferred)
Completion of a dental radiologic safely program or educational course (preferred)
