Career Transitions is identifying a Director, Metals Procurement for a key leadership role responsible for developing and implementing global sourcing strategies for direct materials and metals to ensure supply chain efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. This six-figure leadership position oversees the procurement process, supplier relationship management, and strategic sourcing initiatives to support the companys global operations.


What you are doing as the Director, Metals Procurement:



  • Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for direct materials and metals to meet business objectives.

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to ensure the best cost, quality, and delivery performance.

  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to achieve optimal terms and conditions for the company.

  • Team and Supplier dashboards focused on performance and implement improvement plans as necessary.

  • Conduct regular supplier audits to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and value engineering projects to achieve budgetary targets.

  • Analyze market trends and conduct cost benchmarking to identify opportunities for savings.

  • Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve supply chain performance.

  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors with contingency planning in case of disruptions.


What you need as the Director, Metals Procurement:



  • Bachelors degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.

  • 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, with a focus on direct materials and metals.

  • Proven track record of successfully leading global sourcing initiatives and driving cost savings.

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Experience in supplier relationship management and contract negotiation.

  • Knowledge of market trends, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to direct materials and metals.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Travel up to 40% of the time.


Preferred Skills:



  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).

  • Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.

  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and initiatives in sourcing and procurement.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
