The City of Altoona is seeking temporary winter/seasonal employees to support the Public Works Department during the winter months. In this role, you will assist in maintaining safe and accessible roadways during snow and ice events, ensuring the community can navigate through the winter season. Responsibilities include operating snow removal equipment, trucks, and other machinery as needed, alongside performing manual labor tasks.

This position is temporary, with shifts varying based on weather conditions, and typically runs from December 1st through April 15th.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Valid State driver's license is required.

A valid State Class 'B' CDL license is preferred, but not required.

Previous experience with medium and heavy equipment is beneficial, particularly plows and snow removal equipment.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
