Financial Technical Lead / Senior Lead Software Engineer Location: Remote (Hampton Roads, VA area) Type: Full-Time | Remote-First (1 Monthly In-Person Meeting) Salary: $120,000 $145,000 + Full Benefits The RoleWe are seeking a Financial Technical Lead to spearhead the development of our core accounting and financial modeling platforms. This is a pivotal leadership role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of complex financial logic and modern cloud architecture. You will bridge the gap between legacy systems and next-generation frameworks, ensuring our software remains scalable, secure, and precise. The Work Split40% Architecture & Security: Approving production code, setting SDLC best practices, and acting as a mentor and safeguard for junior engineers. 30% Technical Translation: Working directly with Financial Experts to translate complex accounting needs into actionable technical requirements. 30% High-Complexity Coding: Hands-on development of mission-critical modules and troubleshooting sophisticated financial calculation errors.
Technical StackBackend: C#, ASP.NET Core, Razor, FastAPI (Python). Frontend: Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript. Data: MariaDB (MySQL) and Amazon Redshift (OLAP). Infrastructure: AWS (ECS, EC2, RDS) managed via Console and SSH. Tools: Jira, Git (BitBucket/GitHub).
What Youll DoArchitectural Leadership: Lead the evolution of our ecosystem, balancing the maintenance of legacy .NET applications with the rollout of modern Next.js/FastAPI services. Data Integrity: Design and optimize complex relational databases and data warehousing solutions to handle sophisticated analytics. Mentorship: Lead code reviews and foster a culture of technical excellence across the development team. Problem Solving: Proactively identify system bottlenecks and implement robust, long-term fixes for high-stakes financial data.
QualificationsExperience: 7+ years in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a senior architectural or leadership role. Domain Knowledge: A strong understanding of accounting principles or financial modeling is highly preferred. Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field. Communication: Ability to speak "Finance" to stakeholders and "Code" to the dev team.
