Gis Analyst Location: US-IL-Buffalo Grove - 60089 Jobcode: 15-1299 Email Job

Design, implement, and maintain geospatial systems that support company’s logistics operations, including routing optimization, delivery tracking, and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This role applies spatial data science and enterprise system integration to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance operational visibility in a multistate freight environment. Specific duties include: develop and maintain geospatial data systems for real-time vehicle routing, fleet tracking, and delivery zone optimization; integrate GIS platforms with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP platforms, and onboard GPS telematics; design spatial models and routing algorithms to improve performance metrics (e.g., cost-per-mile, fuel usage, fleet utilization); build user-facing dashboards and web maps using tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Python, and JavaScript libraries (e.g., Leaflet, Mapbox); support REST API-based integration for location-aware alerts, real-time updates, and delivery forecasting; conduct route audits and spatial compliance analysis with DOT/state transportation regulations (e.g., hazardous materials, restricted roads); collaborate with IT and operations teams to align GIS tools with business workflows, routing plans, and regulatory needs; and document workflows, technical specifications, and mapping standards for internal use and external compliance audits.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or closely related field and two (2) years of experience In the job offered or experience in GIS systems designs or related spatial data modeling or algorithm implementation
REQUIRED SKILLS: Must have experience with the followings:
1. Ability to use GIS software tools such as open-source GIS (e.g., QGIS), ArcGIS, and geospatial scripting in Python
2. Experience with logistics and transportation systems;
3. Using routing algorithms and spatial database modeling tools
4. Knowledge with API-based connectivity and integration; and
5. Working experience with geospatial web applications and visualization tools.
