Title: Recovery Technician
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour
Training Pay (3rd Shift): 10% shift differential $24.20/hour
Employment Type: Contract (Temp-to-Hire)
Duration: 4 6 months (conversion eligible)
Schedule: Full-time
Day Shift: 6:00 AM 2:30 PM
  • Days off are mid-week
  • All new hires must complete initial training on 3rd shift

Training Shift: Graveyard 10:00 PM 6:30 AM (3 4 weeks)
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Airport Site 100% Onsite)

Tekberry is seeking reliable and safety-focused Recovery Technicians to work onsite with our client, a leading global transportation solutions company. This role supports rail vehicle and system recovery operations, along with light preventive and corrective maintenance, in an active airport rail environment.

This position involves rail vehicles and wayside systems - not semi-trucks or standard automotive work - and requires comfort working at heights and responding to real-time system events.

Job Summary

The Recovery Technician performs train and system recoveries of failed equipment, along with light preventive and corrective maintenance on rail vehicles and wayside equipment. Duties include inspections and basic maintenance of electro-mechanical components under the direction of supervisors, while maintaining strict adherence to safety and security requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform train and system recoveries for failed rail vehicles and equipment

  • Conduct visual inspections and light maintenance on brakes, air compressors, couplers, doors, HVAC, auxiliary power units, and other electro-mechanical components

  • Manually operate trains to ensure readiness for revenue service

  • Respond immediately to system failures and emergency events following established procedures

  • Review and follow safety instructions, procedures, and technical documentation

  • Assist with troubleshooting and recommend hardware or procedural improvements identified during recovery or maintenance activities

  • Participate in required training programs to maintain certifications and operational readiness

  • Accurately document work performed using work orders, logs, and system forms

  • Follow all Alstom safety, security, and operational procedures to maintain a safe and reliable fleet

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and work at heights

  • Frequent use of hands for handling tools and equipment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • May be required to walk long distances and work on elevated surfaces

Must-Have Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Basic mechanical or maintenance experience with general hand tools

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Ability to work in a 24-hour operational environment (various shifts)

  • Strong attendance and reliability (non-negotiable)

  • Ability to read, speak, and understand English

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications

Additional Site & Compliance Requirements

This position is based at an airport facility and requires SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) clearance(link removed) Candidates must pass an airport-run federal background check and badging process completed onsite on Day One.
