Associate Engineering Technician - Electrical Substation Drafter


Location: Must reside within 50 miles of any COMPANY offices


Employment Type: Contract - Full-time, 5 days/week onsite at any COMPANY office


Pay Rate: $32.58 per hour


US Citizenship or Green Card Required


Job Summary Under close supervision, you will provide technical support to engineering teams by performing tasks that require a basic understanding of engineering principles and practices. You will utilize digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to assist in the creation, modification, and maintenance of technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. You will participate in the evaluation of methods used in the development of deliverables and design activities to support continuous improvement and efficiency.


This role focuses on electrical substation drafting, with experience in schematics, wiring diagrams, and site layouts considered a strong plus.


Key Responsibilities



  • Continue to learn and apply standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, and COMPANY policies and procedures.

  • Ensure deliverables are accurate and compliant by developing knowledge of the COMPANY Quality Program.

  • Demonstrate personal accuracy while supporting continuous improvement and change management efforts.

  • Broaden knowledge of applications required to modify and develop less complex deliverables based on a variety of design inputs.

  • Assist with minor computations, such as material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.

  • Help coordinate deliverables with other groups on the same project to minimize interference or errors.

  • Focus on the needs of internal clients while gaining a basic understanding of external clients' main interests and drivers.

  • Proactively seek and share knowledge of the latest technologies and processes.


Qualifications



  • Typically a minimum of 1 year of related work experience.

  • 1-2 years of experience with Autodesk AutoCAD (experience with Bentley MicroStation is a plus).


Preferred Skills & Experience



  • Familiarity with electrical substation design elements, including schematics, wiring, and site layouts.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and processes.
