The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing and ordering greenhouse supplies, plant material, and related materials to support daily operations. This position works closely with greenhouse management and vendors to ensure products are available, cost-effective, and delivered on schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Purchase plants, seeds, soil, fertilizers, containers, and greenhouse supplies
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels and monitor product usage
• Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedulesand payments
• Compare pricing and negotiate favorable terms when appropriate
• Track purchase orders, invoices, and receiving documentation
• Coordinate deliveries and verify the accuracy of shipments
• Work with greenhousemanagementto anticipate seasonal product needs
• Monitor product quality and address vendor issues as needed
• Maintain organized purchasing and inventory records
• Assist with budgeting and cost control efforts

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous purchasing, inventory, greenhouse, agricultural, or retail experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of plants, greenhouse products, or horticulture is preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in basic computer systems, email, and spreadsheets
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• QuickBooks knowledge preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout greenhouse facilities regularly
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and greenhouse conditions

Work Environment

This position operates in both an office and greenhouse environment and may require occasional weekend or seasonal scheduling flexibility during peak seasons.

Location: Fully Onsite in Leavenworth County, Kansas Pay: $20/hr Hours: Monday-Friday; 7:30am-3pm
