We have partnered with an electric utility company in the Reading, MA area to provide with an Integrated Resource Analyst II.

Responsibilities of the Integrated Resource Analyst II:

  • Assist the Director of Integrated Resources in the areas of short and long term power supply planning.
  • Responsible for the submission of daily load data and ICAP tags to ISO-NE and maintenance of records. Make daily contact with transmission companies that RMLD is interconnected with.
  • Responsible for the daily short term power transaction functions. Run various economic models to determine load forecasts, net positions, and future costs.
  • Responsible for the development of the daily Standard Market Design (SMD) efforts which include: daily energy forecast, fuel price updates, operational status of generators in power supply, determination of buy and sell prices using up to date market information. Has routine contact with ISO-NE and other ISO participants in the daily market as necessary.
  • Responsible for review and completion of all power purchase and sales billings, NYPA credit for residential customers, Fuel Charge, Purchase Power Capacity and Transmission (PPCT), Energy Conservation Charge (ECC) as well as Street light rate for RMLD on a monthly basis to RMLD Billing and Accounting departments.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining demand response and distributed generation initiatives relating to wholesale power supply.
  • Responsible for performing load and economic analysis to determine the optimal power supply mix and cost benefit.
  • Responsible for power supply evaluation, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining department modeling tools such as capacity, energy, and load forecasting.
  • Responsible in ensuring ISO-New England rule compliance relating to Integrated Resources.
  • Responsible for developing the cost of service study and retail rate design. Develop the long term economic and end use forecast.
  • Responsible for assisting in the training of the daily duties of the Integrated Resource Analyst I.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the ISO-NE contract database. Responsible for confirmation and verification of bilateral contracts that RMLD has entered into.
  • Assist in the performance of utility accounting annual budget.
  • Responsible for completing annual DPU reports for power supply related information. Provide reports/presentations.
  • Responsible for verifying and adjusting monthly purchase power billings for all RMLD contracts and entitlements and negotiate with suppliers, marketers, and generators intermittently to reshape RMLD power supply.
  • Perform studies and problem solving related to power supply and ISO billing.
  • Responsible to coordinate and negotiate short-term deals with other NEPOOL members to reduce power supply costs when necessary.
  • Responsible to serve as an informational source to the Integrated Resource Engineers (IRE) with regard to commercial billing and reliability issues, load growth and other power related concerns. Work with IRE to assure efficiency programs are aligned with Wholesale Power Supply costs.
  • Responsible for providing RMLD management with market input to support the development and implementation of long-term strategic business plans for meeting RMLD's reliability and financial goals.
  • Responsible for maintaining applicable knowledge of electrical distribution system overall functional capabilities and integrated smart technology. Initiate dialogue on system reliability upgrades that could or would directly impact wholesale power supply costs.
  • Responsible for representing RMLD in electric industry and trade organizations to increase industry related knowledge and promote positive business relationship.
  • Multi-task and lead cross-functional project teams and perform project management functions.
  • Requirements of the Integrated Resource Analyst II:

    • BS in Mechanical, Electrical or Electric Utility Engineering or related discipline as determined by the RMLD. Course work in Business Administration, Business Management, preferred.
    • Minimum 7-10 years of experience as an Analyst working with wholesale power supply for a technical organization, preferably in the utility industry, with ability to perform complex technical and financial analysis on the benefits of wholesale power supply markets.
    • Minimum 7-10 years of project management, budget preparation and cost control.
    • Comprehensive knowledge in strategic resource procurement and ISO-NE market rules and procedures required.
    • Working knowledge of cost of service/rate design, energy efficiency programs, municipal utility accounting, DPU and associated purchasing and bidding laws.
    • Specific and demonstrated knowledge analyzing fundamentals, energy risk management, marketing, business program development and business finance, preferred.
    • Ability to complete assigned work in a timely manner under deadline pressure.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish own work plans and priorities and/or work cohesively with cross functional teams while maintaining proper scheduling of other work plans and priorities.
    • Well-developed computer skills and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including SharePoint, RMLD billing software, etc. Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers.
    • React professionally to industry portfolio analysis and resolve issues independently.
    • Ability to communicate ideas and technical information clearly too internal and external customers.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze. Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
    • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and be adaptable to competing demands.
    • Valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
