We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented QA Engineer to join our team with a primary focus on supporting the onboarding of new applications within the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) organizations. In this role, you will play a crucial part in testing the functionality of both existing and incoming internal and external applications in the Clinical Data Sharing Capability (CDSC) platform. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for quality, a deep understanding of testing methodologies, and a passion for ensuring the seamless performance of mission-critical healthcare applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the validation of technical requirements, scalability, and compatibility of new applications with the existing infrastructure and ecosystem.
  • Work hand-in-hand with development teams to provide QA guidance and support during the application onboarding process, ensuring adherence to best practices and quality standards.
  • Design and implement comprehensive test plans, test cases, and testing strategies to ensure the reliability, performance, and functionality of CDSC and associated applications.
  • Conduct rigorous testing, including functional, regression, performance, and integration testing, and analyze test results to identify and report issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to establish automated testing pipelines and integrate QA practices seamlessly into the continuous integration and delivery processes.
  • Collaborate with Site Reliability Engineers to monitor application performance and contribute insights from a QA perspective to enhance overall reliability.
  • Participate in incident response activities as needed, working closely with teams to investigate issues, determine root causes, and contribute to effective solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in QA, software testing, and healthcare IT.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (3 years) as a QA Engineer, SDET, or a related role in complex software ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including automated testing, regression testing, performance testing, and integration testing.
  • Experience with test automation tools and frameworks, such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate testing outcomes and recommendations.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Preferred:
  • Relevant certifications in software testing, quality assurance, or related fields.
  • Prior experience in healthcare or government IT environments.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as HIPAA, HITRUST, and FedRAMP.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with scripting and programming skills, preferably in languages like Python, Bash, or similar.
  • Familiarity with front end testing platforms like Cypress or Playwright.

Benefits

  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
  • Training & Development
