*There is no relocation for this position. Summary: Contribute and support Javos Quality System through analytical, organoleptic, and microbiological analysis of products, samples, and ingredients in accordance with established requirements and regulations. Monitor and document critical processes. Communicate intra-departmentally any food safety and quality issues. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. - Perform sampling and inspections of incoming raw materials and ingredients.
- Analyze work-in-progress and finished products according to written procedures and established specifications.
- Collect samples and plates, and analyze the full spectrum of microbiological analysis for product release and environmental food safety programs.
- Perform Hold and Release procedures for finished products.
- Ensure proper documentation is completed and maintained for quality systems, finished products, routine data analysis, and testing.
- Document and report Food Safety and Quality issues and procedure-related information in a proper and timely manner
- Engage in preparation and documentation of shelf-life testing, trial testing, and any other project-oriented work that arises.
- Assist in maintaining the Approved Supplier program by gathering product or ingredient-related information from vendors.
- Maintained lab equipment and instruments per calibration scheduling and procedures.
- Monitor and review Food Safety Documentation for the HACCP plan.
- Follow and enforce compliance with procedures, rules and regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices, and food safety rules.
- Responsible for the general housekeeping of the workspace to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements - High School Diploma or GED with 1-3 years laboratory experience, preferably within Food and Beverage Industry OR entry level with B.S. in Food Science or a related field
- Critical and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to perform a sensory evaluation on coffee, teas, and botanical products.
- Capability to prioritize the workday to meet production needs and any pending projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written
- Is self-motivated and thrives in a fast production environment.
- Works effectively both as a team and independently with solid communication skills
- Knowledgeable of Manufacturing Quality Systems is a plus.
Working Conditions: - Food processing, warehouse, and food laboratory environment
- The environment may be wet or dry, and temperatures range from 30F to 110F.
- 2nd shift hours with a start time at 10 am, but may range from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Production demands may require overtime and/or evening or weekend scheduling.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervision; may need to address GMP non-compliances with production personnel.
