Job Title : Quality Engineer Location: Canonsburg, PA Wage Range: $30-$50/hr Job Number: 23-01164 Job Description: Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for a Quality Engineer to work from their Canonsburg, PA facility. Our client is a high-tech business focusing on software and hardware system integration, cutting-edge research and development, and manufacturing. We provide premium systems, services, and products for the Department of Defense, government agencies and commercial clients. They are seeking a self-motivated, organized, and dynamic Quality Engineer to join the team. The Quality Engineer will perform professional quality engineering requirements involving the application of procedural requirements and control criteria in the development and administration of quality procedures and techniques to assure that the products meet and exceed required standards. Provide support to the overall Quality Management System (QMS) in support of customer requirements, company goals and quality initiatives. Manage teams to facilitate Root Cause Analysis and drive product and process improvements. Duties and Responsibilities: - Member of the Failure Review Boards (FRB) representing the Quality Department for all Quality and reliability issues.
- Facilitate and lead investigations for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and customer reporting efforts with cross-functional teams. Prepare detailed investigation reports and implement corrective actions.
- Produce and deliver quality reports per contract requirements, working with production personnel, technical resources and subject matter experts as needed.
- Extract data from a variety of sources to generate reports and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Meet with design and production engineering team to determine quality assurance parameters and implement requirements with production environment.
- Conducts gap analysis of in-house practices versus contract requirements, standards and industry practices; develops plans and implements corrective actions to ensure continued compliance.
- Troubleshoot quality issues and modify inspection procedures.
- Investigate complex manufacturing product quality issues (e.g., Corrective Action, non-conformances, audit observations, customer complaints) for all production processes prior to final product release based on engineering principles; analyze results, make recommendations and report results.
- Develop training and documentation materials for production to enable the seamless knowledge transfer of manufacturing processes.
- Perform supplier evaluations and help promote supply chain improvements.
- Participate in the internal auditing/surveillance programs.
- Lead material review board (MRB) meetings as needed.
- Perform Engineering Change Order (ECO) reviews as the Quality representative.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Ability to interpret technical part and assembly drawings and manufacturer datasheets
- Extensive experience in analytics, high-level problem-solving skills, and the ability to project manage.
- Comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, organizational, and follow-up skills.
- The ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects as well as the ability to converse effectively with all levels of personnel.
- Advanced personal computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and specialized applications.
- Ability to pull, manipulate and report on data from various database platforms.
- Must be able to handle multiple assignments and also perform in a diverse cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering) or related field. Previous experience as QA Engineer. Strong understanding problem solving techniques and demonstration of results and improvements Broad technical knowledge with experience in an electronics assembly and ISO9001 or similar environment. Practical knowledge and experience with all aspects of the ASQ CQE Body of Knowledge. Minimum of five years experience in a relevant environment. Must be able to obtain and hold a DoD security clearance.
