Summary:

Our client is seeking a Mid-Level Equipment & Tool Engineers to support the tooling for the 777-300ER, 777-200F, 777-9X, and 777-8FX models of Boeing aircraft.

One type of tooling application includes small tools that require a high level of ingenuity and engineering knowledge to be utilized in high precision, limited space applications. Conversely, other tooling applications involve highly complex multi-purpose and multi-cell automation. Both, highly diverse, types of tooling are equally as important to the future of Boeing as are the engineers who design them.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This is an equipment and tooling development, implementation, and improvement role.

  • Support a variety of tooling that is required to build the 777 fleet.

  • This tooling is constantly reviewed for safety as well as accommodation of new models and new technology.

  • Several new engineers are needed to support production system improvements to safely produce quality aircraft reliably each time.

  • Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.

  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design, usability, and rate estimates.

  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.

  • Troubleshoots current production issues related to quality, safety, and repeatability.

  • Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware and documentation.

  • Perform studies and make recommendations for disposition of assets.

  • Develops concepts and designs in CATIA and present them for technical and financial approval.

  • In Production Engineering, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity.

Required Skills:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor).

  • 5 or more years of related work experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years of related work experience).

  • 5 or more years of experience with production systems in a manufacturing or engineering capacity.

  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  • Must have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency.

  • Must have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, safety, and equipment services, and directly supporting the production system.

Desired Skills:

  • 5 or more years of experience working in an Equipment or Tool Engineering role

  • 5 or more years of experience working in a production environment

  • 3 or more years of CATIA V5 solid modeling experience

  • 3 or more years of working GD&T experience

  • 1 or more years leading teams in a leadership role

  • 1 or more years of experience working to industry standards including compliance with hardware and safety codes

  • 1 or more years of experience working with hardware configuration management

  • Project Management Knowledge

  • Strong Communication Skills

  • Motivated self-starter that may be asked to train less experienced engineers.

  • Ability to collaborate with both the engineering work force and the mechanics on the factory floor.
