Role:
Helps to build positive relations by providing prompt, efficient, accurate, courteous and personalized service to colleagues, vendors, and guests of RDI Engineering. Responsible for surveying Edison and non-Edison electrical and communication poles to generate field reports for inhouse processing. Supports all field roles in the interest of providing exceptional service. Represents RDI Engineering in a professional manner, supporting goals and deadlines.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Primary responsabilities will be for maintaining and creating Pole Loading field reports

• Familiarity with the Pole Loading Manual is of utmost importance and key to the job

• Calculating various measurments including heights, distances and utility thicknesses.

• Properly take photographs of equipment and structures

• Must be able to quickly navigate through Google Earth

• Create PDF documents

• Intermediate knowledge of MS Word

• Need to accurately read and transfer information from various forms

• Precision and accuracy to detail is paramount

• Scan and fax documents

• Performs other duties as assigned

• Must be familiar with ArcGIS ArcPad


Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Up to six months of similar or related experience.

Education: A high school education or GED.

Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job,
requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust.
Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.

Other Skills: Able to comfortably operate a computer; familiarity with Microsoft products such as
Word, Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth and be able to navigate through specified websites. Operate a 10-key calculator, digital camera, field lazers, and a measuring wheel.

Physical Activities and Requirements

This position requires a 5/8, 6am-3pm work schedule and overnight stay, Monday through Friday. Requires superior hand dexterity, movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Sedentary work; sitting some of the time. Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate equipment. Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive information; must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, and/or quickly with accuracy and precision. As a requirement, employment is contingent on passing a background check by Southern California Edison. Training consists of four weeks. During the 90 day probationary period the rate of pay will be 12/hr. After the completion of the 90 day probationary period the rate of pay will be 14/hr.
