The Finance Controller contributes to Areya Medias mission by providing accurate and timely company records by managing the companys accounting function. This role reports to the CEO and VP Operations.

The Finance Controller has the following responsibilities and duties.

• Overseeing day-to-day accounting functions.
• Oversee cash flow management.
• Manage financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, asset coordination, account management, forecasting and budgets.
• Work with Accounting Firms (in the US and International) and other service providers to create an automated process of data flow between accounting, sales, and planning/forecasting.
• Review account reconciliations and journal entries and resolve discrepancies to maintain record and account accuracy.
• Oversee the month-end closing process and prepare financial statements.
• Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support business objectives.
• Manage third-party vendors responsible for rent and utility payments to ensure timely and accurate payments, reduce late fees and eliminate duplicate payments.
• The ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management about the finances of the business and justify certain financial recommendations.
• Compile, prepare and file federal and state tax returns in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Prepare end of year financial reports to share with investors.

Support for Okayshop business unit:

• Provide assistance and recommendations to the Okayshop management team on a strategic basis.
• Provide support to Okayshop financial support on a rolling, as-needed basis in order to meet company goals.
• Handling all back-tax and corporate tax issues as well as filing future returns with information provided by Okayshops accounting support.
• Coordinating with Okayshops accounting support and OKMs tax accounting support for proper tax setup in new markets.
• Working with Okayshops accounting support to get any and all information required for proper and timely month-end and year-end closings.

Requirements

The Finance Controller should have the following skills, education, and experience.

• 2+ years of relevant finance experience.
• Demonstrates a deep understanding of accounting concepts.
• An expert in Microsoft Excel and other Office suites.
• Highly detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects to deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
• Profit & Loss Management.
• Previous experience working in an entrepreneurial environment and creative environments such as a media agency, creative agency, publishing and or TV Broadcast.
