Job Description

APM Architect - AppD + Dynatrace (DT) 12+ years

Responsibilities: Lead the design and architecture of enterprise-level Application Performance Monitoring solutions (Preferably APPD / DT / New Relic.) Define the APM strategy, roadmap, and standards across the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Provide expert guidance and consulting to project teams and stakeholders on APM tool selection, implementation, and optimization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and infrastructure, to design and implement scalable and high-performing APM solutions. Drive the evaluation, selection, and integration of APM tools, ensuring they meet technical requirements and adhere to architectural standards. Develop and maintain architectural patterns, reference architectures, and best practices for APM implementation and operations. Conduct performance assessments and capacity planning for applications, identifying performance bottlenecks and recommending optimization strategies. Lead the implementation of APM instrumentation, including customization and integration with various platforms and frameworks. Define and implement APM data collection, storage, and analysis processes to ensure the availability of actionable insights. Stay up to date with emerging APM trends, technologies, and industry best practices, evaluating their potential impact on the organization. Mentor and coach APM teams, fostering knowledge sharing and skill development. Collaborate with vendors and participate in product evaluations to ensure the organization is leveraging the latest APM tools and capabilities.

Key skills :

Good understanding and experience on: Extensive experience as an APM Architect, designing and implementing enterprise-level APM solutions. Deep understanding of APM concepts, methodologies, and best practices across a variety of application stacks and architectures. Experience in designing, deploying, and monitoring applications in cloud environments. Proven track record of successfully architecting and optimizing APM solutions in complex, large-scale environments. Strong proficiency in analysing and interpreting application performance metrics, tracing data, and profiling techniques. Expertise in troubleshooting complex performance issues, conducting root cause analysis, and devising effective solutions. Advanced knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architectures, and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). Experience in designing and implementing APM instrumentation, including customization and integration with various platforms and frameworks. Strong understanding of APM data collection, storage, and analysis processes. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and recommend innovative solutions. Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization. Proactive and self-driven, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver results within deadlines.

Good to have :

Certifications in APPD / DT / Other APM technologies Knowledge & Experience with any other APM / Log Analytics tools (Science logic, New relic,eGi, Splunk / ELK.) Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and the ability to monitor and optimize applications in cloud environments. Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration frameworks like Kubernetes. Familiarity with Config management tools like Terraform or Ansible. Certifications in AWS, Azure, or other relevant cloud technologies. Knowledge of cloud-native observability tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, or Google Cloud Monitoring.
