Title: RN Lactation Coordinator position within our Womens Health clinic. Shift: Weekdays (no weekends or holidays). Experience:Two (2) years of direct work experience as a Registered Nurse with breastfeeding mothers and newborn/child. Provides, directs, and evaluates the lactation needs and care of patients, including developing, implementing, and modifying (if necessary) a plan and/or a provision of care. Provides comprehensive instruction to prenatal, antepartum and postpartum patients using holistic considerations. Uses educational strategies for individual, family or group guidance to support the breastfeeding option. Implements standards of care guidelines for assisting breastfeeding mothers in all areas of the organization (Emergency Department, Obstetrics, Multi-Service Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Primary Care Clinic, Pediatrics, Public Health Nursing etc.). Assumes responsibility for data collection and submission. Provides supplemental information (Pamphlets, Posters, etc.) in accordance with latest evidence-based practice. Collaborates with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients. Observes and assesses the patient s clinical condition. Collects and interprets data and takes appropriate action to support breastfeeding and the health of the newborn/child. Provides routine training to maintain staff proficiency for those caring for breastfeeding mothers and newborn/child. Maintains health records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Participates in the development, update, and evaluation of standards of care Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI). Maintains professional knowledge and proficiency in lactation knowledge and practice through continuing education. Participates in the staff orientation and preceptorship program in collaboration with Clinical Education. Performs clinical nursing duties for patients within the Women s Health Department. Actively participate as part of the care team to establish best practices, efficient workflows and the highest quality of care for patients. Completes all yearly Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) required training by the indicated due dates. Assists, promotes, and supports compliance with established CMS standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Education:Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.Valid Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) Certificate.Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in any U.S. State or Territory.Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain certification. Housing: Information can be found under the 'Facility Group Document section. Orientation: on Mondays only - If your traveler misses the compliance deadline, they will pushed to the following Monday
