Highlights:

Position Title: Teacher/ Trainer (This position will be classified as Academy Trainer)

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87107

Duration: 6 months

Work Schedule: 24 hours per week. Monday Wednesday, Tuesday Thursday, or Wednesday- Friday. Hours between 8:30 AM 5:00 PM

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • The Comprehensive Training Unit (CTU) Curriculum Designer works with law enforcement subject matter experts and fellow curriculum designers to develop APD training. They design course materials, which may include lesson plans, PowerPoints, handouts, class exercises, reality-based scenarios, participant handbooks, and testing instruments. They also ensure compliance with APD policy, the Court-Approved Settlement Agreement (while applicable), and law enforcement best practices.
  • This position involves multitasking, working with variable deadlines, collaborating with sworn and civilian colleagues, and maintaining a customer service orientation.

  • Interested candidates should possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college and
  • Two (2) years of work experience in education, business operations, research, curriculum design and development, or have teaching credentials at the high school level.
  • Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. (All applicants must submit a writing sample.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of adult learning theory, training, and delivery utilizing methodologies such as the ADDIE instructional design model.
  • Ability to coordinate, organize, and balance work while handling multiple deadline-driven processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with sworn and civilian colleagues.
