We are seeking a senior qualified actuary (IAF, FSA, FIA, SAV or equivalent) experienced in Life and Annuities (L&A) (re)insurance, to join our growing team and support additional origination, deal management and transaction execution for the Global Risk Solutions team. In addition to advising and pricing L&A products and reinsurance solutions, the Senior Business Development Actuary will also support with financial modelling reviews, client presentation development and enhancement, managing the NDA/RFP process and negotiating/developing service level agreements, engagement letters and reinsurance contracts.

As part of the wider sales unit, you will advise clients on technical risk quantification, risk management and market topics. You will work collaboratively as part of the Global Risk Solutions team and with various functions and subject matter experts within Guy Carpenter/Marsh McLennan across the United Kingdom, Ireland, US, Europe and indeed, globally. You will interact regularly with clients.

We will rely on you to:


Assess client needs, build and maintain a strong pipeline through the analysis of clients reinsurance requirements and through advising on strategy, new products and structures available in the market.

Oversee the pricing and structuring of reinsurance programmes, collaborating with actuarial colleagues and contributing to cross-functional teams.

Support the Head of Life & Annuities with front line client servicing (supply of market information, negotiating amendments/improvements to cover, reinsurance optimisation, facilitating client/reinsurer meetings etc).

Keep abreast of changing risk and reinsurance market conditions and topics such as IFRS 17 and Solvency II including its potential impact on clients.

Participate in the quarterly and annual revenue/budget process with the management team.

Recruit and manage new resources as they are needed internally through the intern/graduate program and via external hiring.

Lead, organise and manage a high-performing team.

Work together with specialists across the firm to deliver highly complex, best-in-class reinsurance solutions to clients.

Oversee responses to client queries, NDAs, RFPs etc., ensuring issues are resolved completely and promptly.

Develop client relationships across re/insurers at all levels of organization and grow/improve relationships with key decision makers in the UK and Ireland, across Europe and globally.

Be responsible for developing and improving client and marketing materials/presentations.

Engage with key stakeholders both internally and externally.


What you need to have:


Qualified actuary (IAF, FSA, FIA, SAV or equivalent).

Comparable experience in L&A re/insurance and/or on re/insurance transactions.

Knowledge of Solvency II/European re/insurance markets, with focus on UK/Ireland.

Exemplary analytical and numerical skills.

Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
