Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC) strives to transform musculoskeletal healthcare in the Northern Nevada region and we want you to join us as an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) so we can achieve our vision together. Providing access to quality care in rural areas is important to us and we have an exciting opportunity for you to contribute to that as well.

This position will serve all locations of our ROC Express Walk In Clinic for orthopedic care: downtown Reno, Sparks, and Carson City. The position will work 1-2 shifts per week but may work additional shifts periodically to cover our business need.

In addition to the ROC Express Walk In Clinics, you would be crucial to our efforts to build our rural presence by providing orthopedic services to the people of the Fernley area without them having to travel elsewhere to seek care. If you are driven to give back to the rural communities of Nevada while still having the support and network of a regional musculoskeletal institute, you have found your home.

Whats in it for you?

  • You will be surrounded by others that care about you as a person and your success. We build relationships and connections that extend beyond our time at ROC. We mentor and teach each other and work to help each other with problems that arise.
  • You will have work/life balance; we encourage you to take care of whats important to you, while still accomplishing your tasks and caring for our patients.
  • You will train periodically with the regions best orthopedic specialists, across our 6 specialties and in the operating room.
  • You will receive professional development, certification reimbursement and reimbursement for continuing education to ensure you are getting what you want out of your time here.

What would you do as an Advanced Practice Provider?

You can expect to regularly:

  • Assess and treat orthopedic injuries or conditions that may require procedures, referral, or further evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon or other health care professional;
  • Elicit a detailed and accurate history from patient, perform an appropriate examination, delineate problems, and record data;
  • Make diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patient conditions;
  • Perform diagnostic workups involved in performance and interpretation of common laboratory, radiological and other procedures;
  • Perform therapeutic routine procedures such as treating infections, suturing, wound care, managing simple conditions produced by infection or trauma, apply and remove casts, splints, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), initial evaluation of complex injuries;
  • Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer medication and orthopedic devices as may allowed by state legislation;
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality to minimize impacts to clinic staffing schedules;
  • Provide customer service and patient care, maintain confidentiality, and abide by HIPAA requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school for Advanced Practice Providers (Physician Assistant Program or Nurse Practitioner Program);
  • Active Nevada professional license with no license restrictions (PA or NP) (or the ability to obtain one prior to employment with ROC);
    • Nurse Practitioner should be certified to see patients of all ages (FNP).
  • One year of experience working as a PA/NP in an orthopedic clinic setting.

Work Environment

This position operates in a clinical environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, and similar conditions is possible.

Travel: This position is expected to travel to our ROC Express Walk In Clinic locations (downtown Reno, Sparks, Carson City) and to Fernley.
