With 6,000 acres of on-property land to explore and more off property trip permits than any other camp in Colorado, Working at Sanborn Western Camps is a challenging and rewarding experience. In one summer you will have the opportunity to influence the lives of children, explore the Colorado backcountry, work with other staff from all around the country and develop your leadership and technical skills. The days are full, the energy is high, and the fun is contagious.

All counselors live on camp property in one of several tents or cabins, living with the campers. We work to create connections with nature and connections with each other through fun and adventure.

Some Examples of Program Areas: Backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, horse packing trips, canoeing, additionally we offer in-camp activities such as archery, swimming, sports and science based activities.

Basic Qualifications:

Assistant Counselors 18-19 years of age, Counselors 20+ and Coordinators 21+

• Experience in the outdoors or working with kids is preferred.


• Enthusiastic, resilient and flexible individuals.  


• Applicants must have completed high school and have a willingness to be a contributing member of our camp community.

Our benefits include: Base salary starting at $2,700

Room and Board: Lodging, meals, and laundry valued at $2,025 for the summer season.
