SUMMARY

Sankofa Montessori is seeking an After School Program Coordinator starting as early as August 1st. The ideal candidate is an energetic and compassionate person who is detail-oriented, possesses strong communication skills, and excels at building positive relationships. This person also has experience working with children in a Montessori environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

  • Under the direction of the Associate Director of Operations, the After-School Coordinator is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the program and staff
  • The Coordinator is directly responsible for planning and organizing all daily activities of students
  • Responsible for picking up students from their classrooms and bringing them to the designated space
  • Develop and plan activities that incorporate program goals into the daily routine
  • Provide a warm and caring atmosphere for students
  • Maintain open communication between students, parents, staff and school personnel
  • Prepare activities that are developmentally appropriate for the students
  • Communicate with the parents through daily dropoff and pickup
  • Maintain a safe environment for students
  • Maintain records of attendance and signin/out sheets and turn them in to the Associate Director of Operations every week
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward coworkers, the students, parents/guardians, and the school
  • Report any problems which arise with participants, other employees, or the school to the Associate Director of Operations.

Requirements

First and foremost, the After-School Program Coordinator Aid must share Sankofa Montessoris commitment to working together to provide a culturally responsive, child and family-centered Montessori education to ensure that all of our students develop the knowledge, skills, and agency to have a life of purpose. Additionally, for this position, were looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:

  • Minimum Associates degree
  • Montessori experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of unique and special needs
  • Coursework or training in child development and/or related field
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up and follow-through
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, demanding work environment
  • Excellent customer service; strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional work ethic; very reliable and responsible
  • Flexible, willing to learn and take on new responsibilities
  • Professional, friendly, and adaptable personality; strong ability to provide high quality services to a wide variety of students (e.g. age, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic)
  • A "make it happen" attitude at all times, especially when faced with adversity
  • You have the ability to multi-task, perform well under pressure, and complete tasks/projects effectively and on-time
  • Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Unwavering commitment to Sankofa Montessoris mission and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of Sankofa Montessori students, families, and staff
  • Can complete physical demands of the role (including standing and walking for extended periods and lifting heavy objects up to 40 Ibs)
  • Successful background check results required

Benefits

Sankofa Montessoris compensation philosophy is to pay competitively for the PK-12 charter market to ensure equity across our institution. The pay for this role is $18.00-22.00hr depending on experience. Sankofa Montessori is committed to internal pay equity throughout our organization. Because of this, we do not negotiate salary offers outside our salary bands. All staff members are equipped with the tools needed to succeed.
