Seeking a Senior Aerostructures Engineer OR Senior Aerospace Structural Engineer with 5+ years of aircraft structural design and implementation experience to contribute to and lead applied R&D and product development programs.

When you join our dynamic and rapidly-growing organization, you will collaborate closely with our multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to rapidly develop and demonstrate new systems, including novel Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and enabling technologies.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to design-build-fly prototypes, design pre-production aircraft, develop and integrate quiet electric propulsion, and perform clean sheet design. The team has participated in the development of multiple UAVs from Group 1 to 4, and has experience in designing, building, and testing many aerospace vehicles and enabling technologies.

Requirements

  • Exclusive US citizenship is required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required
  • BS or MS in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university is required
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience with aircraft structural layout, design, and analysis, with desired experience of 10+ years. Familiarity with composite aircraft structures preferred.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualified Candidates will be able to:

  • Lead aerostructure layout, design and analysis tasks within larger programs
  • Demonstrate experience with composite aircraft structures
  • Guide the success of engineering and development efforts with design, analysis, and execution at the integrated system and subsystems level to meet a wide variety of mission requirements
  • Perform airframe structural design according to specific design criteria and program requirements
  • Perform aircraft structural analysis using a variety of techniques appropriate to the phase of effort, from hand-sizing through finite element analysis (FEA)
  • Establish composite ply schedules and incorporate composite architectures into the finite element models
  • Lead airframe structural optimization, aerostructures modal analysis and flutter analyses
  • Create or work with CAD technicians to create detailed structural assembly drawings
  • Develop bills-of-materials and technical data lists containing multiple part and assembly descriptors
  • Plan and conduct material test plans to establish material allowables and inform structural design criteria
  • Plan and conduct structural testing of major aircraft components and subcomponents.
  • Interact daily with other disciplines focused on developing aircraft
  • Identify, mitigate, and track engineering risk and communicate those risks with a broader team
  • Document design attributes, analysis results, and test results in support of design reviews and airworthiness certification
  • Develop technical documentation including presentations, reports, drawings, and other engineering data
