MPF Federal is currently seeking an Animal Husbandry Supervisor for an animal research facility in Aberdeen, MD(link removed) Employees are expected to be familiar with the day-to-day activities, workflow, personnel, and daily schedules within their assigned facilities. MPF expects each of our employees to be forward-thinking and to create and assist in quality contract performance. The Animal Husbandry Supervisor will assist management in efficient contract operations and maintain an effective, positive, and professional relationship with both MPF and Government staff.

This description is not all-inclusive of the duties required to complete the job. Employees are expected to complete all assigned duties daily as directed by management.

Compensation ranges from $28.00-$31.00 and is based on skills, experience, and certification.

Work hours are 7am-4pm (Monday-Friday) with required weekends and holidays. The weekend and holiday hours are generally 7am-1pm but may vary.

JOB DUTIES:

• Familiar with day-to-day activities, workflow, personnel, and daily schedules within the facilities assigned.
• Forward thinking, creating and assisting in quality control performance.

• Provide oversight for the husbandry and cagewash operations as well as the staff assigned to these areas.
• Provide implementation and oversight of staff evaluation, mentoring, and correction.
• Comprehend, follow, and ensure all project duties are performed in accordance with project SOPs and policies.
• Provide staff with the specific on-the-job training required to perform animal husbandry tasks associated with their position.
• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting as directed.
• Schedule staff for daily, weekend, and holiday coverage.
• Ensure facility supply inventories are procured timely and on-hand inventories are available.
• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly quality assurance for all areas of responsibility and report any non-compliance for immediate correction.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by Project Management.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Must hold a current AALAS certification at the LATG level or be eligible to take the exam within 6 months of hire.
• Previous animal experience preferably with small species.
• Must have previous facility operations and fundamental knowledge of supervision.
• Must possess computer skills such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis.
• Ability to pass all screening requirements and obtain a favorable clearance.
