Job Description:

With preliminary direction from a Project Manager, prepare feasibility studies and programming, expedited concept development and document production for competitions, and lead all phases of domestic and international large scale multistory mixed use, high rise residential, corporate/commercial, aviation, transportation, education, healthcare, science & technology, and master planning projects; produce site analysis studies with site photography, code research, base drawings, and diagrams; prepare preliminary solar studies and daylight simulations to evaluate the annual daylight availability and glare risk; integrate projects into urban context, responsive to prevailing regulatory, environmental, and economic conditions, solicit and incorporate input from stakeholders to translate into site plans; develop planning concepts and generate design documents based on clients’ functional and spatial requirements; provide conceptual design solutions including architectural parti diagrams, building massing, façade design, and preliminary building envelope concepts using software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, and 3D Studio MAX/VIZ; prepare presentation sketches, drawings, image board presentations, architectural detail specifications, building physical models using digital fabrication software for laser cutter and 3D printer, and highly detailed 3D virtual models for concept design presentations and presentation packages using building information modeling (BIM) software (Revit), AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Studio MAX/VIZ, MentalRay, FormZ, Rhino, Maya, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and InDesign, editing layouts for concept design, design development, and construction drawings, incorporating LEED sustainable design principles and building systems into architectural designs, preparing LEED documentation; communicate with clients, external consultants, and team members, and conduct design presentations using software including Adobe Acrobat Professional, Bluebeam Revu, Newforma, and Concept Board; conduct internal presentations to report on project progress; take site photographs and drone photos to create photo montages; create photorealistic architectural visualizations throughout the entire design process using software including 3DS MAX, Vray, and Mental Ray; build digital architecture models using building information modeling (BIM) software, including Revit, Rhino3D, and Grasshopper; convert digital models, including those built with 3DS MAX, AutoCAD, and Rhino, into Revit models using software including Grasshopper and (link removed)side.Revit; set up automated parametric optimization workflows, including using custom developed scripts to connect 3D modeling tools, building environmental analysis tools and evolutionary optimization algorithms to optimize building shapes and/or building envelopes, and providing feedback on performance and progress to the rest of the design team; coordinate with consultants, model makers, and architectural renderers, and review products, drawings, renderings, animations, and physical models; build physical models using digital fabrication software including Ultimaker Cura and 3D printers for design development and presentations; perform area calculations using BOMA standards; research domestic and international building codes and regulations, collect data, and write reports and presentations to incorporate research and data into architectural designs; provide planning and design solutions by applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, ADA, zoning and building codes compliance, and building materials; incorporate LEED sustainable design principles and WELL building design strategies into design solutions and prepare related documentations; apply architectural principles to review contractors’ shop drawings, submittals samples, and mock-ups; perform and coordinate the selection, consideration, and review of building materials for use on projects; review drawing sets using Bluebeam Studio Session to ensure the achievement of the overall design intent; research new materials and design and construction practices that support energy conservation and sustainability for international and domestic projects; coordinate with external consultants including civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), lighting, landscape, code, traffic, parking, zoning, signage, acoustic, waste management, curtain wall, façade maintenance, special systems, vertical transportation, and structural consultants, to incorporate engineering systems into a unified design for client and agency reviews and approvals; perform all necessary modifications of drawings and specifications as changes occur in dimensions, materials, and other aspects of architectural design in response to input from clients, agencies, and other stakeholders; manage project data and transmission and all electronic communications using Newforma or other approved software; assist the Project Manager in establishing task schedule and manpower requirements consistent with the project agreement; oversee and mentor interns and junior staff on project teams.

Job Requirements:

Salary: $105,498 to $119,974 per year
