The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for building maintenance and operations to include preventative maintenance, energy management, client satisfaction, technical staff supervision, training, life/safety systems and budget preparation support. This position requires an individual with an exceptionally high level of initiative and strong leadership capabilities to support a client in a multi-building campus environment.




Primary Functions:

Directly responsibility for all aspects of maintenance as assigned by the Sr. Chief Engineer and/or Account Manager.
Support maintenance repair and preventative maintenance work in all phases of HVAC installation, maintenance and repair, electrical, building automation, plumbing and fire & life safety systems.
Support maintenance and repair of temperature control valves, thermostats, dampers, time delay devices and Pneumatic & DDC controls.
Oversight & Support for the completion of Client Work Requests / Preventative Maintenance tasks.
Maintain equipment documentation such as drawings, manuals, service records, etc.
Assist with construction and/or project management process. Support development ofmechanical, electrical and plumbing scope for design-build / project improvements.
Assist with preparation and implementation of the property budget.
Responsible for supply inventory control and purchasing.
Contract management for vendor partners.
Responsible for emergency on-call as first line of resource to the building technician staff.
Supervise and train assigned maintenance personnel.
Promote and maintain a safe working environment.


Experience:

Minimum of 5 years' work experience in building maintenance and previous supervisory experience.


Education & Training

High school education or equivalent. Supervisory course or supervisory job experience. CFC certification types 1 and 2 minimum. Universal refrigerant recovery and transfer certification.


Competencies:

Knowledge of and experience in mechanical, electrical & plumbing concepts, applicable electric codes, HVAC principles, water chemistry, and indoor air quality.
Contract administration skills.
Basic accounting and budgeting knowledge.
Good oral and written communications skills.
Highly organized with inventory record keeping.
Outstanding customer relations skills.
Basic computer and Microsoft Office Skills
Strong leadership skills.
Demonstrated willingness to work independently and productively and to take initiative as well as willingness to accept direction.
Possess or obtain a valid state operator/drivers license.
Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders.
Ability to pass a drug screen and a criminal background check.
