Join M.S. Walker's finance and accounting team at a crucial and transformational stage of the organization's growth! The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller and will be responsible for assisting in the management of the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and other financial requirements. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accounting professional with a record of strong performance and team collaboration to contribute to M.S. Walker's success not only in day-to-day financial operations of the organization, but to the enhancement of our systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of assigned financial transactions
• Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and other financial records as needed
• Assist in the management of the annual audit and tax filings
• Assist in insurance renewals and audits as needed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with all financial policies and procedures
• Provide support and review emerging accounting pronouncements for implications to the organization
• Participate in projects from an accounting perspective that arise as a result of business requirements, such as implementation of new software or process improvements
• Research technical accounting issues and can work with management on solutions
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to management for decision-making
• Assist in the development and implementation of accounting and financial systems
• Assist in development and training of team members
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience with progressive responsibility and experience in the accounting function
• CPA, MSA, or MBA degree preferred
• Knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and other financial requirements
• Demonstrated strong technical accounting skills
• Knowledge or experience in cost accounting
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
