About the Role

(link removed) is competitively positioned as a leading enterprise resource for compensation data, software, consulting and education. The Associate Counsel provides legal advice and support on matters affecting the company, including sales activities, contracts, data privacy matters, and general business and corporate matters.

  • Hybrid- Office located in Waltham, MA.
  • Monday-Friday

  • Base salary of $100K plus quarterly bonus potential

A Day in the Life

  • Provide legal support tor sales and customer success teams to secure new and renewed business.
    • Prepare contracts and related documents, including data processing and privacy-related documents.
    • Negotiate contract terms related to IP licensing, authorized data use, privacy, indemnification, limitation of liability, payment and renewals.
    • Advise on client questions, concerns or complaints.
  • Understand and provide advice on data privacy matters, including US and ex-US statutory requirements
  • Provide legal support as needed to other company groups (Finance, Operations, Marketing/Product Development) as needed.

Requirements

About You

  • Juris Doctorate degree
  • 2-4 years of in-house counsel or similar experience; bar admission
  • Familiarity/experience with contracts, particularly Software as a Service contracts
  • Superior attention to detail/accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple time sensitive tasks simultaneously (e.g., end of month sales activity) and properly set priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly and concisely explain legal concepts to non-lawyers.
  • Initiative and independence
  • Working knowledge of relevant legal principles, e.g., intellectual property, data privacy legislation, contracts, public procurement.
  • Commercial awareness and insight.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Superior attention to detail/accuracy.
  • Effective, efficient negotiation
