Patterns Behavioral Services is looking for an Authorizations Coordinator in Brea, CA!

We are looking for an experienced, highly-skilled Authorization Coordinator to work at our Brea, CA administrative office. The Authorization Coordinator provides the responsibilities of verifying patient-eligibility, effectively communicating with patients and insurance companies to resolve any issues, follow-up on the process requests including approvals, denials and deferrals and handling the financial obligations of patients. Activities follow regulations set by funding sources as well as company policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Submitting requests for new and renewing authorizations
  • Ensure insurance related tasks are performed and completed efficiently and timely to meet company goals
  • Maintain billing software and ensure all authorizations are current
  • Assist billing with resolving and/or reviewing any insurance denials or holds by either the client or funding source
  • Diligently follow up with insurance companies when contracts have not been received in a timely manner
  • Be the primary point of contact for all client-authorization inquiries. Speak with potential families in a professional manner as the representative of the company.
  • Help coordinate the implementation of Single Case Agreements, as needed
  • Maintain a positive business relationship with and be the point of contact for third party billing companies and funding sources
  • Help the clinical team track future expiring contracts by running reports and relaying the information to the Operations Clinical Managers.
  • Oversee the clearance and rendering of appointments on a weekly basis for reporting to the Operations Director
  • Understanding service codes and insurance unit breakdowns
  • Any other relevant duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two years experience working within a business or educational setting in a similar position require
  • Proven experience with insurance billing and payroll is preferred
  • Exposure to behavioral health/ABA field(s) preferred but not required
  • Strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication skills and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to follow appropriate compliance guidelines at all times
  • Track record of success working at a fast pace, and able to adapt to a fluid business environment
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, demonstrating a sense of urgency and results orientation
