JOB TITLE: Avionics Technician (VIP Jets Experience Required)

LOCATION: Van Nuys, CA

PAY RATE: $34.00 - $44.00 per hour

Essential Duties:

  • Perform inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, removal and replacement of aircraft instrument and avionics components and systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, FAR's, industry standards and approved procedures

  • Assumes a leadership role in technical matters within area; and may perform as an Authorized Inspector for in-process, final inspection and return to service of articles for which they are approved

  • Carry out tasks assigned by Planner Scheduler and/or the Maintenance Manager

  • Assist maintenance Lead Technicians in meeting deadlines and return to service goals by coordinating avionics related activities

  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the procedures outlined in the applicable Aircraft Maintenance Manual and customers General Maintenance Manual

  • Troubleshoots, repairs, test, removes and replaces avionics and instrument wiring and systems installed in various airframes using hand tools, test equipment and technical documents

  • Orders necessary parts to complete the job. Acts as Authorized Inspector as needed

  • Enters description of work completed on the work order and properly documents removal and installation of aircraft parts and components according to approved data and approved procedures

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all technical reference materials needed to perform the job

  • Assists Maintenance Technicians in the resolution of discrepancies in avionics and instrument components and aircraft systems

  • Responds to other technical requests from internal and external customers within area of expertise

  • Provides OJT to less experienced technicians to ensure technician development and accurate work

  • Accompanies flight crews to perform in-flight troubleshooting and adjustments and performs preflight evaluations of avionics and instrument systems

  • Maintains avionics test equipment and work area as required. Operates ground support equipment as necessary

  • Attends factory and company technical training and participates in OJT to increase technical skills and proficiency

  • Maintains training log and keeps it updated

  • Exercise good judgment in working with people in a team environment as well as in aircraft maintenance and safety

Required Skills:

  • Key Skills; avionics, maintenance, troubleshoot, PART 145 or PART 135, Gulfstream OR Cessna OR Embraer OR Bombardier

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Must be maintenance tech, not installer and not manufacturing

  • Must have own tools necessary for the job

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills in the English language

  • Have at least 3 years of experience working in a Part 145 environment, Part 135 experience is a plus

  • Ability to manage high stress situations, sometimes multiple situations

  • Experience in the use of maintenance reference materials including Manufacturer's Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Component Manuals, etc.

  • Experience using CMP and CAMP maintenance tracking programs

  • Exceptional customer service skills required

  • Must be proficient in the operation of standard office equipment and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

  • Driver's License with no major infractions required

  • Excellent time management and organization skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 75 lbs.

  • Ability to read small print; identifies colors; repetitive motion

  • Ability to tolerate in confined spaces and heights above four feet

  • Ability to tolerate standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting

  • Ability to tolerate working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Desired Skills:

  • Prefer model type experience

  • Experience working with Gulfstream, Cessna, Embraer and Bombardier is preferred

  • Ability to obtain FAA Repairman Certificate required, A&P License a plus
