JOB SUMMARY: The Benefits Manager is responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (health, dental, vision, life, STD/LTD, HSA, 401(k) retirement plan, etc.) including maintaining plan compliance and communication with employees and management. This position is also responsible for managing, coaching, and developing the Payroll Specialist and HRIS Specialist.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Completes benefits administration and processing. Handles enrollments, COBRA, terminations, beneficiary changes, etc., disability, workers compensation, and death claims.
  • Owns LOA/FMLA/ADA process administration, manages short/long term disability plans and other state disability plans in coordination with HRIS, payroll, and HR partners.
  • Oversees and administers the 401(k) plan.
  • Serves as primary contact for our employees, benefits brokers, plan vendors and third-party administrators as it relates to benefits and payroll.
  • Evaluates and revises internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Documents and maintains administrative procedures for benefits processes.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory needs, including but not limited to ERISA, COBRA, Workers Compensation, ACA, FMLA, and ADA, by staying up to date on regulatory changes.
  • Oversees, tracks, and manages annual benefit renewals. Makes recommendations to the VP of P&C on annual renewal and benefit plan selection processes.
  • Handles sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion.
  • Accepts and executes other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven history of thriving, navigating, and executing in fast-paced environments and the ability to operate in a broad role is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with people supervisory responsibilities required.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefit programs, insurance products, and retirement plans.
  • Knowledge of Benefits, 401k, and Payroll Compliance & Regulations required.
  • Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 15% annually)
