SAFETY COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:


Requires the ability to understand and maintain various safety programs and applicable law, HR software, organizational and administrative skills. Must be familiar with company policies and procedures.


JOB DUTIES:



  • Maintain and update Safety Management System


  • Conduct assigned projects, surveys, risk assessments, audits, and inspections


  • Provide support for Occupational Health Nurses as needed, including but not limited to first aid.


  • Language translation as necessary to support the workplace safety function. In addition, provide translation support for Human Resources, including Occupational Health.


  • Assist with annual hearing testing.


  • Audit and observe employee behavior and PPE usage in work areas.


  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions/practices and work with the team to develop corrective action


  • Follow up on corrective action to ensure implementation and effectiveness.


  • Attend plant safety meetings and assist in addressing action items.


  • Production floor presence daily/weekly.


  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and other training as necessary.


  • Promote safety awareness among employees


  • Reprioritize shifting workload as necessary.


  • Create positive work relationships, resolve issues at the lowest level possible.


  • Perform associated administrative duties.


  • Perform other duties as required.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • The ability to learn and grow in both the understanding of OSHA regulations and safe work practices.


  • First Aid/CPR training certification.


  • Ability to exercise sound judgement to balance job demands and meet objectives.


  • Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.


  • Ability to organize, resource, develop, and facilitate learning.


  • Excellent interpersonal skills.


  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.


  • Excellent time-management, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills to effectively evaluate, plan, and accomplish work goals.


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
